Brooke Jones and Dex Modas

WHERE DID YOU MEET?

TOWN: Tadworth

COUNTY: Surrey

PLACE: Box Hill

WHAT DID YOU DO?

We went on 5K hike down Box Hill via the stepping stones & back up to the viewing point where we sat & chatted for a couple of hours.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE MEETING UP WITH A TROOPER IN PERSON?

DEX:

It was really nice, just like meeting an old friend, like minded with a passion for fitness & training. Brooke is great & has done so many wonderful adventures, it was lovely meeting up in person.

BROOKE:

Meh, she was alright! Haha. Just kidding, it was great. it was like we'd known each other for years & it wasn't a getting to know someone experience, it was chatting like we knew each other already. It was great to finally meet in person and not over a screen to do something we both enjoy, being in the outdoors and exercise.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT MILITARY IN MOTION AND THE COMMUNITY?

BROOKE:

The community is amazing. A group of people from all backgrounds, all abilities coming together with one goal. The encouragement and support is unbelievable everyday. You are never alone anymore in anything you do. One big support for me was when people took time out of their day to come onto zoom to support me in the middle of my marathon, that was amazing. To see them all there was lovely. A group of people, now friends, that I didn't know 5/6 months ago now the backbone of support in anything I do. It really is something special. The banter is pretty strong in the group now too. It's like one big family forming from all over the U.K.

DEX:

I love the variety training with Military in Motion & the challenges along the way. From the initial core sessions Monday-Friday throughout lockdown, the RIPT, STRONG & NIGHTCRAWL of course, really gave me focus & a wonderful community of likeminded people that many have become great friends & from all around the world. A real positive from a negative situation, which is of course Kelly's & MIM's ethos & I love that. It is a positive, friendly & supportive group which completely turned my lockdown around.
